{"id":821,"date":"2013-05-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-05-20T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.teamneo.org\/news-press-and-updates\/q2-2013-quarterly-economic-review\/"},"modified":"2022-02-08T18:55:02","modified_gmt":"2022-02-08T18:55:02","slug":"q2-2013-quarterly-economic-review","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/northeastohioregion.com\/news\/q2-2013-quarterly-economic-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Q2 2013 Quarterly Economic Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"medium-9 medium-push-3 columns section-body__content\">\n<h2>Northeast Ohio 2022 Employment Projected to be at Highest Point<br \/>\nin the Past 20 Years<\/h2>\n<p>Employment is projected to be at 2.57 million workers by 2022,<br \/>\nits highest point in the past 20 years, reports the quarterly<br \/>\nCleveland Plus Economic Review released today by Team NEO.<br \/>\nOccupations with the most job openings through 2022 include<br \/>\nhealthcare, office and similar occupations, and production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJobs are projected to grow by 150,000 by 2022, surpassing<br \/>\nthe job declines of the last decade,\u201d said Tom Waltermire,<br \/>\nCEO of Team NEO. \u201cOverall, more than 780,000 total jobs<br \/>\nopenings are expected by 2022 due to new job creation and<br \/>\nturnover.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Statistics from the report include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Occupations With Largest Growth Include Healthcare and<br \/>\nBusiness and Finance\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 o Topping the list of occupations projected to add<br \/>\njobs from 2012-2022 in Northeast Ohio include healthcare with<br \/>\n45,000 new jobs and business and finance with 22,000 job<br \/>\nadditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sales and Administration Lead Total Job Openings (New and<br \/>\nReplacement Jobs)<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 o Leading the way in overall job openings from 2012<br \/>\nto 2022 are sales, with 110,000 openings and office and<br \/>\nadministration, with 94,000.<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 o Other occupations projected to grow include<br \/>\nhealthcare with 85,000. Production, despite gradual declines in<br \/>\nproduction employment, also is projected to add more than 47,000<br \/>\njobs due to turnover.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Most Occupation Sectors Expected to Improve by 2022<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 o Administration, with office and similar positions,<br \/>\nis projected to be the largest sector with 350,000 jobs, and sales,<br \/>\nwith more than 325,000 positions. Both of these occupations<br \/>\nexperienced declines from 2002 to 2012 but are projected to grow<br \/>\nfrom 2012-2022<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 o Overall healthcare jobs are projected to account<br \/>\nfor 275,000 jobs by 2022, with healthcare support positions<br \/>\nprojected to grow 27%, personal care by 22% and healthcare<br \/>\npractitioner positions up 14%<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 o Production, which declined 21% from 2002 to 2012 is<br \/>\nprojected to decline at a slower rate of 11% over the next decade<br \/>\nand will still employ nearly 180,000 people<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 o While management jobs declined throughout the<br \/>\n2000s, they are projected to rebound and grow 6%, making up nearly<br \/>\n140,000 jobs<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 All Sectors See Year-Over-Year Growth<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 o All major sectors grew in Q1 2013: Services gained<br \/>\n34,000 jobs year-over-year, construction gained more than 5,000<br \/>\njobs; government (1,500 jobs gained) and manufacturing (500 jobs<br \/>\nadded) remained steady\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Well Activity Increasing in Ohio<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 o \u00a0In Q1 2013, 109 wells were permitted,<br \/>\nsignaling the coming increase in drilling activity<\/p>\n<p>Team NEO publishes the Cleveland Plus Economic Review quarterly to<br \/>\nprovide a holistic picture of Northeast Ohio\u2019s economy.
