{"id":17114,"date":"2022-03-10T19:49:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-10T19:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/neor.mysites.io\/?post_type=news&#038;p=17114"},"modified":"2023-04-26T14:42:55","modified_gmt":"2023-04-26T14:42:55","slug":"cleveland-talent-alliance-forms-to-attract-talent-to-region","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/northeastohioregion.com\/news\/cleveland-talent-alliance-forms-to-attract-talent-to-region\/","title":{"rendered":"Cleveland Talent Alliance Forms to Attract Talent to Region"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Consortium seeking director to lead initiative<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Eleven non-profit, public and private entities today announced the formation of the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thisiscleveland.com\/talentalliance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cleveland Talent Alliance<\/a>&nbsp;to develop a seamless and coordinated system to identify, attract, navigate, engage, welcome and retain the best talent in Cleveland, with an initial focus on the fast growth sectors of IT\/technology (including financial services), healthcare and smart manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor the Cleveland region to become one of the fastest growing and most diverse, inclusive and welcoming metro areas in the Midwest by 2030, it is essential to attract and retain talent in a distinct and coordinated way,\u201d said David Gilbert, president and CEO of Destination Cleveland. \u201cResearch combined with previous efforts \u2013 including Engage! Cleveland\u2019s Discover the CLE campaign \u2013 show that audiences are open to considering Cleveland after being introduced to the region. By leveraging the strongest capabilities of all partners, we can be more efficient and effective in achieving our goals. Our business and civic community must collaborate to attract talent to increase our region\u2019s growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of March 9, Alliance members are Destination Cleveland, Greater Cleveland Partnership, Cleveland Leadership Center, Team NEO, Cuyahoga County, Engage! Cleveland, JobsOhio, Global Cleveland, MAGNET, Fund for our Economic Future and Cleveland Neighborhood Progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baiju R. Shah, CEO of Greater Cleveland Partnership added, \u201cTalent is becoming a critical differentiator for regions that are growing and prospering. By building a system that addresses the entire talent cycle, Cleveland will be better positioned for success. The initial focus on the region\u2019s fastest growth sectors and fields will complement business growth efforts while also providing a template that can be applied to other industries as the work progresses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After initial conversations in 2019, planning was placed on hold as the community focused its attention on addressing the human, economic and social toll of the global pandemic. Engagement among many partners restarted in early 2021 to provide input on the Alliance\u2019s design, vision, goals and year one priorities. The Alliance development considered each partner\u2019s current work, future goals, staffing model and capacity to contribute in ways that align with each organization\u2019s mission and vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA vibrant economy has a growing, diverse population with equitable opportunities for education, training, and prospects for filling good-paying, in-demand jobs in our region,\u201d said Bill Koehler, chief executive officer of Team NEO. \u201cThese opportunities for individuals in turn support business growth and vibrancy in our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Alliance\u2019s work in 2022 \u2013 its first year of committed collaboration \u2013 will focus on building out the consortium\u2019s operating model, creating processes, identifying key strategies and developing key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Alliance\u2019s work. Its high-level goals for years two through five are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Generate interest in Cleveland as a place to live and work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increase consideration of Cleveland as a place to live and work, with an initial focus on the fast growth sectors of IT\/technology (including financial services), healthcare and smart manufacturing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Welcome newcomers and increase the retention rate of both new and current residents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA critical component of the Alliance\u2019s work will be engaging those who are here so they can\u2019t imagine leaving,\u201d said Marianne Crosley, president and CEO of Cleveland Leadership Center. \u201cWith so many students seeking degrees in greater Cleveland, we have an audience that already has some firsthand experience here; the Alliance will look to strengthen those experiences through programs that immerse students in the local professional and civic arenas. Additionally, we have a talented legion of young professionals who represent the future of community leadership \u2013 the time is now to help them connect with and develop unbreakable ties to Cleveland.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith world class amenities, a robust job market and a low cost of living, Cleveland is the ideal market for young professionals,\u201d said Ashley Basile Oeken, president of Engage! Cleveland. \u201cOur goal is to connect young professionals to these many opportunities and help them build an incredible career and life in the Cleveland area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ALLIANCE SEEKS DIRECTOR<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Talent Alliance is seeking a director to lead this new initiative. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in managing complex systems strategy and design, project and relationship management, leading others through listening and influencing shared goals.
